The first thing I check on the internet when I wake up is usually the statistics for our blog sites using Google Analytics. It’s quite exciting to see when a new blog I’m trying to promote is growing in terms of the number of visitors. It’s even more exciting to see that the visitors  stay for at 3 minutes to even 20 minutes at a time and visit quite a number of pages on the sites. It gives me a rewarding feeling! The more visitors my site gets, the higher my earning potential from advertising networks such as Google Adsense!

The thing is, there’s a “secret” about how to get more visitors from search engines, but it’s really a no-brainer. Now I decided to share that with you for free. I’ve done this technique over and over, and I’ve found over and again that it really works.

Here it is:

Write articles that will make people STAY. To be more specific, your goal should be for your readers to stay at least 1-3 minutes on your article. The longer they stay the better it will be for you. Now, it doesn’t have to be an article really, it can be a video, a picture, or anything you can place that can make your visitor stay.

Ask yourself the questions:

–is there anything on my site that does not help me achieve that goal?

–is there anything I need to add to my site (i.e. a comprehensive navigation to the different sections of my site or blog, more good articles, interesting videos, and so on.)

–is the design of my site helping to keep the visitor’s interest and does it allow him to see the important parts of your site?

–if someone I don’t know comes to my site, what reason will he have to stay?

If you can just focus on this one thing alone, then you are on the road to success.

Secret # 2

This next secret which I will share to you is not really a secret. People in the business of building sites or blogs are generally aware of something called Search Engine Optimization. For now, it will be enough for you to know that it’s about getting links to your site so that search engines frequently crawl it. I would suggest that you type “free directories” in Google and submit to several of those. Bookmark your sites on Delicious, Digg, Technorati, and other social bookmarking sites. I usually spend a day of doing this when starting a new blog, then I just focus on getting my visitors stay 1 to 20 minutes and the search engines will NATURALLY drive more visitors to my sites.

The tips I just shared with you are good for Get Paid to Blog Opportunities as well as Get Paid to Advertise opportunities such Google Adsense and TribalFusion.

Blogging (or setting up your own website) is a key to maximizing your potential to earn on the internet. Getting a self-hosted blog. If you have the money (about $10 per year) to buy your own domain name and pay for the hosting, then I would recommend setting up a WordPress site. You can download the WordPress CMS on WordPress.org. Note that WordPress.com and WordPress.org are different. WordPress.com allows you to have a free wordpress subdomain, while WordPress.org allows you to download and set up your own WordPress site free from any limitations. I find that having your own domain helps to get more visitors to your site easily. But if you can’t afford it right away, you can rely on a free blog from Blogger for the meantime and save up to get your own domain.

Get Paid to Advertise. You can use your blog to earn from displaying ads. See the Make Money from Advertising article for a list of opportunities.

Get Paid to Write Articles. Some opportunities pay you for writing about certain events or companies online. You place the article on your blog and place a link to that opportunity. Get Paid to Sell. Earn commissions by placing products from Amazon or eBay. You don’t have to have any product yourself, all you have to do is place the code from Amazon or eBay which will automatically display products related to your blog. Use it as your portfolio. You can use your blog as your portfolio or online curriculum vitae (CV). This will feature your skills and any previous works you have done to increase your chances of getting a job when you apply for Local Jobs or International Jobs. Refer your prospective clients to your portfolio.

TribalFusion is one of the biggest opportunities and if you have a big site with 5,000 visitors per day, then you’d definitely want to get into their ad network. They pay quite high compared to other cost-per-impression advertiser networks.

5,000 unique visitors per day requirement. The requirement is quite high, so this is something that you should place as a long term goal. If you aren’t getting 5,000 unique visitors per day, aim to write more content and promote your site more through Search Engine Optimization techniques.

High CPM Rates. Tribal Fusion pays 55% of their revenues to you, and since the quality of their advertisers are good, 55% is quite a lot.

Payment method. The payment will be sent to you through check after 45 days after you reach the minimum of $50.

ProjectWonderful allows you to earn money by displaying ads. It’s a good income generation opportunity for bloggers and website owners.

Google Adsense pays you for displaying advertisements on your blog or website. If you don’t already have a blog or site, you can start by creating a free account on Blogger.com. Everytime a person clicks on that advertisement, you earn from a few cents to several dollars.

Never cheat! I must emphasize to take extra care with your Adsense account. Never click your own ads, even if it’s on a netcafe, or if it’s in your school library, or at your friends house. For that matter, never ask your friends to click on it! Else, Google will think you are doing something gishy (imagine if they see a visitor going into your site and clicking 100 times each day! That wouldn’t make sense now would it?)

Passive income. Google Adsense allows you to earn dollars even while you sleep, so long as you have a steady stream of visitors coming on your site. The key is to write quality content and promote the site using basic Search Engine Optimization techniques.

Earning potential. The earning potential is very high, from only a few hundred dollars every month if your blog gets a lot of visit, to even thousands of dollars every month. It’s possible to earn $500 a month, to even $1000-$4000 per month if your blog or site gets a lot of visits and your visitors are interested in your content.

Method of Payment. After reaching a minimum of $100, you can either receive the money through a dollar check or through Western Union.

Adsense Tips

The goal. First of all, you should aim to have at least 100 unique visitors per day. Don’t worry, this is very much possible if you write content that other people would want to read. Promote your blog or site with some basic Search Engine Optimization. Write at least 50 articles, try to make them interesting or intriguing to the reader. The goal is to make them stay on each article for at least a minute, but the longer you can make them stay, the better.

Grow your site first! It’s a good idea to not place advertisements first when your site is still new. Wait until you’re getting the 100 unique visitors per day before you start displaying ads. The amount of visitors will grow quicker, because they tend to trust your site more if there are no advertisements.

Focus on a single topic. Start by creating a blog or website and focus on a single topic. Avoid using a hodge podge blog, that is, a blog that talks about anything and everything under the sun. If you must blog on different topics, a better idea would be to separate those topics into different blogs.

For example, you can have a Work from Home blog, a Gadget Reviews Blog, and another personal blog that you use as a diary or journal (but don’t expect to earn much from adsense from the personal blog). I once started a site and got it to have 27,000 pageviews a month, but the percent of people clicking on the ads is only 0.23% which is quite small. I had another blog with only 3,000 page views a month, but with more than ten to twenty times the income per day.

Place your ads in key locations. Place your advertisements in key locations. When I started, I never actually was sure that people would click the ads naturally. I was surprised to find that they really do! I got hundreds of clicks per day by following the guide of placing the ads in these key locations (highlighted in red/orange). The darker the color, the higher the chances that people will click on them.
