SEO Made Easy by Brad Callen. A very easy to read book about Search Engine optimization by Brad Callen. This was the first book I read which allowed me to earn $640 a month by working as an SEO Specialist.

SEO Fast Start by Dan Thies. Dan Thies is one of the leading authorities on Search Engine Optimization techniques at StomperNet. It’s a bit more an advanced read compared to the first book I recommended here.

Blogging Blueprint by Glen Allsopp. Glen is a very young blogger who earns thousands of dollars through blogging. This is a good read if you want to learn more about how to set up a blog or site that will attract people.

My work-from-home story. I began working from home at the age of 20 as a Search Engine Optimization Specialist working for a client in Phoenix, Arizona. I’m an undergraduate–I stopped college during my fourth year since it was hard to manage both college and work. I had to choose between one or the other, and I chose my work. This is not to say that I encourage other people to stop their job as well or stop their work to work from home, I wouldn’t recommend doing so especially if you’re new to working from home.

During that time, I got paid roughly around 28,000 a month and I earned an additional 5,000 or so from other part-time jobs that were also done from the comfort of my home. You could see why I left school–an average graduate’s job will pay you 8,000-10,000 a month for a start and it would probably increase–in a couple of years. Even if I lost my 28,000 a month job, I already knew where to find the 8,000-10,000 working at home part time.

I would not consider myself as a “guru”. There are many other people younger than me who earn much more from the internet. Yet, more probably than not, they wouldn’t be writing a free ebook or sharing their own secrets. Instead, I’m writing this book while my success is still not that big yet, that way it can be more possible to reach for people who are just getting started. I won’t promise you $1000 every day, but I can teach you how to make your first $100. The first few dollars that you receive will be your biggest step towards succeeding in working from home.

At the age of 22, I turned my work into a business and managed my first company. More importantly, I met more clients from outside the country and I increased my capability to market for more clients. I knew that I could meet more clients as long as I had a computer and an internet connection.

During all these times, I would spend from 30 minutes to a couple of hours each day working on my blog and looking to earn monthly passive income. Here are my top 10 ways of earning money online as of Nov. 2009. My name is Lee Lopez, 23 years old, from the Philippines, I am an undergraduate of a Computer course in Davao City. I’ve been working from home as a freelancer and blogger for almost three years and these are how I generate money online.

1. Freelance Work: I receive as high as $1,500 every month on my PayPal account (see proof of payment section) for doing freelance work. I work 5 days, 8-10 hours a day as a Search Engine Optimization consultant and project manager and as an outsourcer for web projects, data entry, lead generation, etc.  On low earning months the least I would earn is around $500 working comfortably. For getting local freelance work (if you have a good resume it’s very easy to get a work-from-home job)  I use these sites in the Local Work from Home Jobs section of this site–if you want to find work-at-home jobs from these sites then go to the National or Nationwide category. If you’re willing to aim for a higher pay every month then you can try the International Work from Home Jobs.

2. Academia-Research: I’ve received over $400 from Work from Home Academia sites before I stopped working. The most I earned in a month from working part-time is around $200 for only a week’s worth of work. It’s been a while though since I worked on such sites since I’ve been busy on my freelance work and my blog.

3. Blog and Passive Income: This is probably my most favorite means of earning money online because I know that even if I stop working I will still continue to earn. To me, passive or “residual” income is the best income that you can generate. Imagine if you can set up a blog that earns 25,000 pesos a month consistently even if you sleep or take a vacation or stop working.

My target is to earn $600 a  month from my blogs and websites but I still have a long way to go. Here are my current earnings from my blogs and passive income:

• This site (3 months old): $15-$20 a month from Adsense
• Another work from home website: $50 a month
• AWSurveys referrals from blogs:  $30 a month
• Project Wonderful: $10-$15 a month
• Revresponse: $5-$10 a month

This puts me at $125 passive income every month in addition to my freelance work. I’m looking at hiring some people part-time to help me to help maintain my sites since I’m very busy with my freelance work for now. I will be updating you every month on my progress to this journey to $600 passive income a month.

4. -10. Other opportunities. The ones I mentioned above are my only focus for now. But I’ve also earned from other opportunities. You can find more about these opportunities for free here. I’ve heard of Chitika, Widgetbucks, MyLot, etc etc and I’ve tried them. Yes, I did earn from them but for the amount of time I spent and for the amount I earned I’m not so excited about the other programs.

PayPerPost is a legitimate website owned by IZEA Inc.  It allows you to make money out of your blog by writing articles and promoting their advertisers on your blog. You earn from $5 to $10 on the average for 200-400 word articles, but if your blog has a very high PageRank then you could be eligible for the $100 opportunities. Working with PayPerPost allows you to earn $100 a month for a start, and $500, $1000, $3000 a month for blogs that have really high PageRank and Alexa Rating.

PageRank? Alexa? To put it simply, PageRank and Alexa allow you to measure the popularity of your site. For example, a site with a PageRank of 0 is not popular, while a site that has a PageRank of 10 is the most popular. Generally, if your site has a PR 4 or higher then you can easily make money out of it from other opportunities similar to PayPerPost.

How to increase my blog’s value? You can increase your blog’s value by doing what we call Search Engine Optimization to it. There are a lot of resources on the internet that tell you about it. To make things simple and just to get you started, post links to your site on free directories, write articles and place a link back to your blog, post comments in the blogosphere with a link back to your site. The more links you have pointing back to your site, the more popular your site will become. Also, the higher quality (high PR, good content) the quality of the sites where you place the link on, then the better it will be for your site.

There are a lot of online websites that allow you to make money from your blog, especially if it is at least 90 days old. One of these opportunities is Blogsvertise.

What is Blogsvertise? Blogsvertise connects advertisers with bloggers. They serve as an advertiser-publisher network. You get paid for writing 200-400 word articles and posting these on your blog.

How much does Blogsvertise pay you? Blogsvertise pays you $5-$20 for writing 200 to 400 word articles about their advertisers. For example, you could get paid for writing about a new website, an event in the internet, and so on.

How to increase your earnings? Promote your blog, increase its PageRank and Alexa Rank by building links to it. The higher your PageRank and Alexa, the more projects will be assigned to you and the higher the pay will be.

I signed up but am not getting any projects. Check your Google PageRank, if it’s zero or one, it will be hard to have projects assigned to you. Do some search engine optimization on your site. Also, it would be good if your blog has its own domain. Consider buying your own domain name: e.g. YourName.com. It only costs $10 a year and you can find a free web hosting company to host it.

Earning opportunity for women bloggers. If you’re a work-from-home mom or if you are a woman and you have a blog, then you can start making money with BlogHerAds.com. They are an advertiser and publisher network that focuses specifically on topics that relate to women, such as parenthood, fashion, lifestyle, health, and other such topics.

Source of passive, residual income. You get paid in commissions depending on how many visitors you get every month. Blog Her Ads has grown over the past few years and they really pay. You do need to have a well-ranking blog, so try to read about Search Engine Optimization and how to promote your blog better. BlogHerAds.com is a good way to increase your revenue from the internet.

Cons of BlogHerAds. The only downside is that you can’t use your blog for any other advertising companies either. They require that you only display their ads. You will be given a code which you can paste on your blog that will automatically display the ads and that automatically generate income.

The first thing I check on the internet when I wake up is usually the statistics for our blog sites using Google Analytics. It’s quite exciting to see when a new blog I’m trying to promote is growing in terms of the number of visitors. It’s even more exciting to see that the visitors  stay for at 3 minutes to even 20 minutes at a time and visit quite a number of pages on the sites. It gives me a rewarding feeling! The more visitors my site gets, the higher my earning potential from advertising networks such as Google Adsense!

The thing is, there’s a “secret” about how to get more visitors from search engines, but it’s really a no-brainer. Now I decided to share that with you for free. I’ve done this technique over and over, and I’ve found over and again that it really works.

Here it is:

Write articles that will make people STAY. To be more specific, your goal should be for your readers to stay at least 1-3 minutes on your article. The longer they stay the better it will be for you. Now, it doesn’t have to be an article really, it can be a video, a picture, or anything you can place that can make your visitor stay.

Ask yourself the questions:

–is there anything on my site that does not help me achieve that goal?

–is there anything I need to add to my site (i.e. a comprehensive navigation to the different sections of my site or blog, more good articles, interesting videos, and so on.)

–is the design of my site helping to keep the visitor’s interest and does it allow him to see the important parts of your site?

–if someone I don’t know comes to my site, what reason will he have to stay?

If you can just focus on this one thing alone, then you are on the road to success.

Secret # 2

This next secret which I will share to you is not really a secret. People in the business of building sites or blogs are generally aware of something called Search Engine Optimization. For now, it will be enough for you to know that it’s about getting links to your site so that search engines frequently crawl it. I would suggest that you type “free directories” in Google and submit to several of those. Bookmark your sites on Delicious, Digg, Technorati, and other social bookmarking sites. I usually spend a day of doing this when starting a new blog, then I just focus on getting my visitors stay 1 to 20 minutes and the search engines will NATURALLY drive more visitors to my sites.
