Senior Web Developer
Frifugl Design is a Norwegian company developing web based solutions mainly for clients in the Norwegian market. We have since 2004 used the open source cms eZ Publish as basis for our websites, and most clients are now running on this platform. We are running our own web-server (Apache/Linux), and also offer remote server administration for selected clients.
We are looking for a senior web developer to handle website development and maintenance, and to make sure our servers are running safely at all times. We are looking for full time ( 40 hour week ) commitment. We also have new business opportunities this year, and we are planning to expand our team, and hire developers/designers to work from the Philippines once we have established a good relationship with the candidate for the senior web developer position. Experience as project leader and other relevant leader-background will be considered a plus, as you will take an active part in selecting new employees in the future. We currently have office-space for one person in Manila, but will consider all applications and we are prepared to set up an office also in other cities.
Even though eZ Publish has been the basis for most sites developed by us in later years, there has been a certain degree of customization involved to fit each clients needs. Installation of extensions, both from the ez community and custom made ones, is a common task in development, and will continue to be so in the future. We also have ideas on how to improve the product itself, in terms of usability ( more user-friendly interfaces ), new services to make it easier to add new content to the websites ( ie. update your website from mobile phones, embedding third-party content from “the cloud” ). We also have a certain need for streaming of video to browser, so if you have experience with streaming media, we would consider that a plus.
We would like to hear your thoughts on what a good cms should be, your experiences with cms-customization to meet client-specifications, and how you think your input can improve our end-product. If you have experience with ez Publish development, it will obviously be a factor we will consider when evaluating candidates, but this is definitely not a must. You will however need to make yourself familiar with this cms, so please download and install ez Publish, and include your evaluation of this cms in your application.
In short, we are looking for an experienced web developer to help us with:
* server administration
* provide good backup-routines in cooperation with our ISP
* provide detailed information/reports on each site on server (quotas and bandwidth usage)
* OS updates on our servers
* server-notification setups to alert on errors and downtime.
* site development
* installing new sites and extensions ( also develop – / customize extensions )
* apply site-style from Photoshop-file using CSS
* integration of external services such as online payment, sms-services etc.
Job Requirements:
* Graduate of a Computer Science or relevant IT-related course from major college or university
* Minimum 3 years of work experience
* Proficient in PHP/MySQL/Javascript/HTML/CSS
* Extensive experience with cms-systems. Knowledge of eZ Publish is a plus, but not a must
* Experience with remote server administration
* Experience with creating custom extensions for cms
* Photoshop- and Flash-experience is a major plus
* Knowledge and experience with both Windows and Linux
* Speak and write fluid english
* Team leader experience
The candidate should be experienced, reliable, able to set and keep deadlines, and to work independently on projects from start to finish.
We are looking for full time commitment ( 40 hour week ), and if our collaboration works out well, we are looking for a long-term commitment.
We would like to do a 4 week trial-period first, if that works out well we would like to hire you full time. We will pay all office-/Internet expenses.
