Once you have the job you want, here are a few tips you can use to keep your clients or contractors satisfied. This may give you a chance to increase your salary, you may get promoted, and you may get a bonus as soon as you apply these techniques.

Take notes. Take note of everything your client is saying. Avoid having the client repeat himself. This is useful especially if your mode of communication is through the phone or online calling services such as Skype and Yahoo Messenger.

Do the job quickly and well. When a client wants something done, finish it quickly and so well that he will be surprised.

Work overtime if you have to. Be willing to work past your regular hours to make sure that the work is done today. Do not leave for tomorrow the tasks that have been scheduled to be finished today. The 40 Hour Work Week rule states that you spend 40 hours a week for your survival, and every hour after that is for your success!

Ask for the priority of the task. Sometimes, when you already have a lot in your list of to-dos an your client adds another task, ask the client regarding whether or not you want the task prioritized over other tasks. This way, you can ensure that you are doing the task that your client sees as the most important. Then prioritize! Don’t do a task with lower priority if a higher priority task exists.

Send updates to your client regularly. This can be in the form of a report, a simple email, a document containing the details of your work for the day. If you have a question, send it immediately.

Give your client more free time. This means that you take initiative and don’t rely on the client all the time to tell you how or what to do. Learn to solve problems by yourself. The more you can accomplish the tasks without having to constantly rely on your client’s supervision (which can be tiring or irritating to your client, by the way), the more the client will value you. Imagine yourself being in the position of the client, and imagine having a worker who takes care of everything automatically. That really feels good for the client.

Learn to outsource your tasks. If your client is paying a good amount, then you might cnosider hring an assistant to help you with your less important and menial tasks. This will give you more time to focus on your more important tasks.
